Agnus Dei

A striking aleatoric work composed for three choirs, percussion, and narrator. Throughout the piece, no two choirs ever share a tempo, creating a dynamic multi-layered soundscape. This performance features the Oak Park Concert Chorale in front with narrator Llou “Big Llou” Johnson, and the Paul Lindblad Choristers in the balconies, led by student conductors Kevin Hallock and Jason Ernst.

Gaudete Festival – Medieval Advent Christmas Concert

The Third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday—the traditional historical start of the Christmas season. On December 16, 2018, St. John Lutheran Church and the Oak Park Concert Chorale marked the occasion with a re-creation of a medieval Gaudete festival. The event featured original medieval and Renaissance carols alongside modern settings of historic texts, complete with tableaux (living statues depicting Christmas stories), banner processions, caroling, and circle dancing. We invite you to experience this unique celebration for the first time—or enjoy it once again!

Follow along with the music and words by opening the full concert program. You can view, download, or print it here.

You can also listen to Pastor Leonard Payton’s Gaudete sermon, or read a transcript with additional commentary.
